ananda & laurel’s hindu-christian wedding under the golden gate bridge

I had so much fun shooting this wedding (my favorite wedding is always whatever one I’ve shot most recently!); scroll down and I’m sure you’ll see why! Ananda’s hilarious facial expressions, adorable flower girls running around before the ceremony, the groomsmen’s entrance over the hill, post-ceremony hot dogs… the multi-cultural ceremony included a saptapadi, during which the bride and groom’s clothing was tied together and seven blessings were offered as they walked seven times around a fire — or in this case a fiery plant — this was National Park land, after all! For the reception, Laurel and her bridesmaids changed into beautiful saris with the help of the women in Ananda’s family; crowding into the bathroom at the reception venue at Fort Mason to take these photos was one of my favorite parts of the evening. And lastly, an amazing Kathak dance…

I got to shoot a really fun wedding at Crissy Field today. I don’t have any photos ready from the wedding itself yet, but I couldn’t resist sharing this photo from yesterday’s rehearsal, of the groom and his best man practicing the groomsmen’s entrance — skipping over the hill!

bari & semaj’s wedding full o’ love at the first unitarian church of oakland

I met Bari and Semaj this past winter when we all began attending our church, the First Unitarian Church of Oakland, at around the same time. I was thrilled when they asked me to photograph their wedding at the church this past weekend. It was quite the celebration, attended by an incredible range of people from the grooms’ communities. Everyone got teary at the toasts — so much love and gratitude filled the room! I hope I managed to capture even a small fraction of it in these photos. Congratulations, Bari and Semaj! I’m so glad to be a part of your community.
